AI posters for academies: how to create designs without losing your identity

4 min readClasbi Team

Creating AI posters for academies is a good idea, and it makes a lot of sense when the person running the academy is not a designer, which is usually the case.

If a tool helps you create a poster faster, move an idea forward or prepare a post, it makes sense to use it.

The delicate part starts when we all begin using it in the same way and the posters, even when they are well made, start losing the personality of each academy.

AI helps, but it tends to make everything look the same

It is getting easier to ask AI to create a poster for an open class, an enrolment campaign, a workshop, an audition or a special activity.

And very often the result is good: it is clear, it looks polished and it can improve on something made by hand.

But if you look at many academy posters, something curious happens: the logo changes, the text changes, the activity changes, but the visual language feels too similar.

The same backgrounds, highlights, layouts and colours keep appearing, and it feels as if the poster has been made by an AI that does not really know the academy.

That is where it helps to adjust how you ask for things, because AI is much more useful when it understands where it should design from.

Academies also compete through personality

An academy is not different only because of what it teaches.

Of course the level, teachers, methodology and organisation matter. If management is also handled well with academy management software, even better. But personality matters a lot in an academy too.

You notice it when you enter the classroom, speak to the team, see their posts or receive a message. Losing that because of a tool that should be helping us is a shame, because AI should speed up the work without taking the essence away.

How to create AI posters for academies without losing the brand

You do not need a huge brand manual to start. If you have one, great; if not, that is fine.

What helps is defining certain things:

  • which colours represent your academy;
  • which typefaces fit you;
  • which kinds of photos do feel like yours;
  • which kinds of photos you do not want to use;
  • which visual resources are part of your brand;
  • what personality your communication should have;
  • which styles AI should not invent.

With that, AI works differently. You are no longer saying only "make a nice poster", but "make a poster for my academy, with this personality and these limits".

What to put in an AI poster prompt

When we use AI, we often ask for things like "make it more modern", "make it more eye-catching" or "give me a more creative version".

But sometimes what improves the result most is the opposite: telling it what you do not want it to invent.

For example, you can ask for things like this:

  • do not use colours outside this palette;
  • do not change the academy style;
  • do not use corporate stock photos;
  • do not generate artificial people unless needed;
  • do not turn every topic into literal decoration;
  • do not use highlights, 3D or gradients if they are not part of our brand;
  • do not make it look like a different academy.

These limits do not make the poster less creative; they simply stop AI from turning every poster into a new brand.

Before publishing, try this

When you have a finished poster, look at it and ask yourself:

Could this belong to any other academy if I changed the logo and name?

If the answer is yes, it probably lacks personality.

Then check:

  1. Does it respect your colours?
  2. Does it fit the way your academy already communicates?
  3. Does the photo or visual resource feel like yours?
  4. Is the academy recognisable without looking only at the logo?

If something fails there, you do not need to throw the whole poster away. Often it is enough to go back to the prompt and remind it better who you are.

Use AI, but give it direction

AI is here to help, and in an academy it can save a lot of time.

It can also help with enrolment texts, family messages or social media posts. Just as many academies reduce manual work with alternatives to Excel or with a more organised online enrolment flow, it makes sense to rely on tools that save time.

The more we use it, the more important it becomes to give it direction. Your academy has something of its own: a tone, an atmosphere, a way of doing things, a relationship with families.

Use AI, of course, but use it to make designs that feel more yours, not more generic.

To make this easier, we have created a resource for exactly this: helping you use AI without making every poster lose the personality of your academy. You can download the free AI poster kit for academies, with a template to define your brand identity and another to request posters while keeping that coherence.

AI can help you move faster, but the essence has to come from your academy.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. AI can help you create posters faster, especially when the person managing the academy is not a designer. The important thing is to give it clear rules so it does not erase the personality of the brand.
Because, when it does not have brand context, AI tends to use generic patterns linked to the topic: typical colours, obvious images and layouts similar to those used by many other academies.
It helps posters, social posts, T-shirts, flyers and other materials keep the same visual personality. You do not need a huge brand manual: it is enough to define colours, typefaces, photos, your own visual elements and what AI should not invent.
